  • AHERC Engineers Map Seafloor near Yakutat

AHERC engineer's Paul Duvoy and Nick Konefal will be in Yakutat this week to carry out an acoustic survey of the seafloor off Cannon Beach.

The work is a part of the U.S. Department of Energy funded Advanced Laboratory and Field Arrays for Marine Energy project (AKA the "ALFA" project).

Duvoy and Konefal will be working from a local vessel operated by Captain Mark Sappington to carry out the sonar survey to map seafloor debris and bathymetry.

The region where the survey will take place has been identified as a promising site for installation of wave energy converters to reduce Yakutat's dependence on costly, diesel based electricity generation.
